From a day of historical teachings in Enniscorthy; a day of war and violence, courage and resilience, ancestors crossing borders and ancestors who stayed fighting for freedom to the following day; a day of celebration through the arts, through dance, through the Riverdance at Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.
An afternoon of color and movement. Feet tapping swirling stomping leaping floating, the beats of revolutionary freedom. Arms flowing, cutting, swooping, rejoicing in perfect symmetrical lines. Irish step versions of Russian, Spanish, American jazz. A people’s history through dance. Moved to tears throughout the production. Could feel emotions roll through the audience. Community hands in a beat of joyous gratitude.
