A Modest Hunk of Creation
Many query about this practice of free writing:
writing
writing
writing
until your brilliant mind says
“See, brilliance.”
Pen moving.
Fingers tapping.
don’t think,
don’t stop,
don’t edit.
Let it all bubble up
from where it bubbles deep.
If its not bubbling,
then write:
THIS SUCKS
THIS SUCKS
THIS SUCKS
untill something bubbles forward.
Let fingers sing over keyboard,
pen skate across page,
uninhibited
by mind.
I know. I know, the internet is calling.
Social media shouting,
Come. Come. Come.
Come for a hit,
a shot,
a piece,
a pull,
a swoosh of comfort.
Great. Great. Great.
You made it. You rode the waves of unquenchable desire.
You held the urge
let it stick around awhile
without entertaining
and then the alarm goes off (did I mention there’s an alarm?)
You stop.
Pen down.
Fingers rest.
You move into the day
with a modest hunk of creation;
a petite strengthening
of mind.
Tomorrow
you will arrive.
You will arrive
again and again and again,
you will arrive.
